Meet the Leaders Meet the Leaders

 Who's Driving the Bus?

Good question - once you've met our youth leaders, you'll know we go by God's grace alone!

Pastor Weatherly Verhelst - By day, associate pastor at the church. On Wednesday evenings, the lady in sneakers sitting on the floor of the youth room, using big words.

Jessica Miller - Jess came up through the ranks of the youth group, and knows the best hiding places in the church, the most outrageous games - and how to keep the discussions rolling, real, and relevant.

Craig Verhelst - Who but Craig would dream up a game of throwing beach balls into garbage cans, or where you add rubber band-shooting to Capture the Flag?  Activity time hasn't started until Craig shows up!

Our supporting cast includes Nathan Benoit, who holds the title of "Most Ultimate Collector/Maker of Noodle Swords in the Nation."

Join us for the holy lunacy of Wednesday night youth fellowship!  You have to see it to believe it...

"...we proclaim Christ crucified, a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles. For God's foolishness is wiser than human wisdom, and God's weakness is stronger than human strength."      (1 Corinthians 1:23, 25)

Activities for Youth Activities for Youth

Wednesday Evening Gatherings
Jr. High (grades 6-8) & Sr. High (grades 9-12) meet at 6:00 p.m. for Bible study, discussions, and activities.

New Year - new stuff!  The youth will be embarking on a new study series with the focus on Leadership.  What is Leadership?, the impact a Leader has on God's Kingdom and Intentional communication are just a few of the topics to be discovered in this session.
These meetings provide us with the opportunity to nurture our relationship with Christ as well as with our friends. The meeting usually consists of a time of prayer/praise n' worship, devotions, and games.  We usually finish up with our activity time by 8:00 p.m.

Believers (teen choir grades 7-12)
This choir is under the direction of Mer Renne, and practices on Wednesdays, 6:45 pm. This ministry provides youth with the opportunity to praise the Lord with their voices during Sunday morning worship and special occasions such as musicals and holiday services.

Monthly Youth Fellowship Outings
These outings are intended to foster the friendship and fellowship of Christ-centered youth, as well as provide opportunities for new friends to be introduced to the youth group. They vary from afternoons of bowling, roller skating or Christian Contemporary concerts to road rallies.  Usually we conduct these outings jointly - Junior High and Senior High, and we're always open to a new, good idea!

Up-Coming - A Night of Knights - a medieval lock-in. Beginning Saturday, February 4th and concluding Sunday, February 5th with making submaring sandwiches for our annual Super Bowl Sub Sale.

Church Activities
The Youth Fellowship often participates in the activities of the church. Come join in the musicals, special dinners, and picnics, just to name a few!

Annual Activities
Fall Retreat, Winter Retreat and going to a Christian Rock Concert in June are some of the bigger events which occupy us.  (This list is always subject to change!)

Senior High Work Mission Opportunity
Senior High Youth (grades 9 thru 12) participate in an annual mission outreach trip on a local or national setting.

Be sure to check the Youth bulletin board outside the Senior High classroom for information and permission forms for all special events.
