Reading Program
Individual members participate in a reading program to broaden their minds in the areas of education for mission, spiritual growth, social action, and nurturing for community. Specific books are available through our church library, many of which the group has purchased for our library for anyone to read.
FINANCIAL SUPPORT
Our major fundraiser for the year is making and selling apple pies in the Fall of each year. We have given over $4,000.00 financial support to the following groups in this last year:
World Wide: Christian Children’s Fund, Haiti Disaster Fund, Noah Project and The Heifer Project
Our Community: Abigail Ministries, Baldwin Avenue Church, Bay Shore Camps, Jail Ministries, Pontiac Lighthouse, Salvation Army, and Turning Point
Our Church: Church camper scholarships, Food Pantry, “Friend in Need” Fund, MCREST, Piano Fund, Prayer Quilt Ministry, Warming Center, and Youth Service Projects
SISTERHOOD OF SURVIVING SPOUSES
This group exists separately from the United Methodist Women, but it is unique to women. They do not answer to the term 'widow', preferring the more positive term of 'survivor.' Concentrating on finding happiness again and a new, true, joy of living, this group meets on the 3rd Wednesday of each month at 4:00 in the church parlor for a time of study and sharing. They often schedule outings as well - such as going to the movies, a planetarium, nature center, or just out to eat. They're always open to new ideas. If you qualify, come bring yours!
