The Senior Care Ministry of UUMC involves visiting, telephoning, sending cards and notes, praying for our senior citizens and giving Communion to shut-ins and those temporarily confined to their homes. Caring and compassion in these relationships often results in a closeness, which assists or supplements the senior's lives. Also, information and referrals are passed on to the pastors when necessary.
Usually once each year we have a roundtable discussion and dessert meeting in order to give caregivers a place to network and exchange ideas and information. There also is a Celebration of Diamonds dinner that is attended by seniors and caregivers in the spring each year. Check the calendar for more information on future Celebrations of Diamonds or roundtable discussions.
The overall goal of our senior care ministry program is to let our senior members know that we respect and care for them and to provide another opportunity for us to represent our church and Jesus Christ in their lives.
Singles Over Sixty is a fairly new group within the church, and exists for the purpose of fun and fellowship among peers who are single for any reason. There is no pairing off, no pressure, just getting together to pass an afternoon over snacks and good conversation. They've even had the Wii out! Contact the church office for information on their next gathering.
