The United Methodist Church denomination mandates the existence of the following four committees within each congregation:

Trustees

Nominating, or Lay Leadership, Committee

Additional  committees are in place as deemed necessary and appointed by the Church Council of each congregation.  Utica UMC has the following additional committees:

Finance Committee
Of course, the Finance Committee is responsible for making sure the money going out doesn't exceed the money coming in. They oversee the budget as well as funding requirements for various projects within the church.

Staff-Parish Relations Committee (SPRC)
SPRC is the administrative group of the church where staff and congregational interests are addressed to achieve the mission of the church. The primary responsibility of SPRC is to work with the church staff in developing their positions while focusing on God.  If you have ever wondered who to talk to about the church or its operations, besides the pastors, this is the group to speak to.

Our paid staff is made up of individuals who view their jobs as a ministry to and with the people of UUMC.  Their commitment comes from an understanding of God's love for us and God's desire for us to share in the community of believers and spirit of Christ's love.  As ministry at UUMC grows and changes, our staff grow in their faith and is flexible in their work.  God has blessed us with dedicated, faithful people in the UUMC staff positions - Praise God!  Be sure to say thank you and express gratitude to our staff for all they do to support our congregation.

Trustees
The board of trustees is responsible for the care and maintenance of the property of Utica UMC, which includes the church building and grounds and the parsonages occupied by our pastors. Weekly Wednesday night projects are done to help maintain and improve our buildings and grounds and promote fellowship with members of the congregation. Christian Education Committee
The Christian Education Committee is involved in all of the educational areas of our church. From the 10:10 Sunday School classes, to Vacation Bible School, and the Rally Day kickoff in September, this is a very active committee. They also help with events such as teacher appreciation, confirmation class, Bibles for 3rd grade students, camp scholarships, graduate recognition and and Mother's Day geraniums. To help with the cost of these ministries, they continue to offer RADA cutlery for sale. 

Endowment
This group is entrusted with the investment of funds contributed to the Endowment Fund of Utica UMC to ensure the financial viability of Utica UMC for generations into the future.

Memorials
The Memorials Committee is responsible for keeping track of donations to the church given in memory of loved ones and overseeing the spending of those funds.

Missions - Together In Missions (T.I.M.)
T.I.M. exists for the sole purpose of making the congregants aware of the many opportunities for outreach within our church, community and world, and raising funds for the mission projects we have selected to support. Their influence is as close as our own food pantry and as far-flung as Zambia, Africa and many, many projects in between.
